The oil catch can is used to prevent oil vapors from entering the intake manifold and clogging the intake valves on direct injection engines. Oil deposits in the intake manifold and valves cause reduced performance, low fuel consumption and can damage the fragile intake flaps and engine. NB: During freezing temperatures the catch can may freeze and cause damage to your engine. Extra attention should be paid to the fluid level or you may choose to remove the catch can during freezing temperatures.
